Engine 2, from the River Park fire station, was the first unit on scene and found a four-door sedan and a four-door Jeep had collided head-on just west of the El Monte Road and Lake Jennings Park Road intersection with both vehicles having major damage. The vehicle fire had been extinguished with multiple fire extinguishers by Sheriff deputies before fire units arrived.

Two patients were trapped in their vehicles and one had self-extricated.  One victim was pronounced deceased at scene and two others were transported to area hospitals after a short extrication.  The cause of the accident is under investigation.
