Lakeside Firefighters Help Resident with Large Rattlesnake

 Winter Gardens - Did you ever wonder how "Rattlesnake Mountain" got its name? The Engine 1 crew from Lakeside's Riverview fire station (fs1) got a good reminder when they responded to assist a homeowner on September 8, 2010, with a very large rattlesnake that had taken up residence in his laundry room.

"It was one on the biggest snakes I can remember in a long while," remarked Lakeside Firefighter/Paramedic Brian Moore. After locating the angry reptile behind the washing machine, the firefighters carefully captured and removed the snake from the residence.

Lakeside Firefighters respond to many "snake removal" calls in our district each year, mainly during the spring and summer months. Residents are reminded to be very cautious around wild snakes, especially in the Rattlesnake Mountain area!

    Last week I caught a rattlesnake this size at my home. The biggest we have ever seen! Now I know that our "heroes" not only put out fires; deliver babies AND catch rattlesnakes, I will be calling you next time! Thanks for all you do.
