Lakeside, CA -

Shortly before noon on Mother's Day, May 12, 2013,  Lakeside firefighters were dispatched to a vegetation fire on Highway 8 Business east of Los Coches Rd. Engine 3 (Lake Jennings fire station) was the first unit on scene and reported a fast-moving vegetation fire with one structure burning and several homes immediately threatened in a nearby mobile home park. The E3 officer immediately requested additional resources through Heartland Dispatch including strike teams, aircraft, and hand crews.  First arriving firefighters also discovered a burn patient who was immediately treated and transported to the burn center at UCSD Hospital in Hillcrest.
