Lakeside Responds to El Monte Crash

El Monte Valley: On February 7th, at 7:19 PM, two companies, two ALS ambulances, and two Chief Officers responded to a high velocity vehicle accident in the 14900 block of El Monte Rd. On arrival crews discovered a large pick-up truck, and a smaller sedan, with major damage to both vehicles. During the initial "triage" phase medics identified two patients that required transport to area trauma centers (later a third patient was located). Battalion Chief Ron Laff assumed overall control of the incident while Interim Fire Chief Andy Parr responded to assist in operations.

Ambulances from the Lake Jennings Station, and the Lakeside Station (Riverview) quickly loaded a total of three victims that all were transported to Sharp Memorial Trauma Center in Kearny Mesa. CHP closed El Monte Rd till the scene could be cleared. CHP is investigating the accident.
