Lakeside Assists on Carveacre Structure Fire

Carveacre-

On Tuesday, January 22nd 2013 at 6:59 AM, the Lakeside Fire Protection District received an automatic aid request to respond Rescue 3 (Lake Jenning Fire Station) to a structure fire in the Carveacre area east of Alpine. The San Diego Rural Fire District had received calls of a well involved structure in the 3500 blk of Big Cat Trail. In addition a request was made to have Lakeside Division Chief Ron Laff respond to the incident to assist with operations.

Fire conditions on the arrival of first responders.
Captain John Hisaw (Lakeside Fire) lives in the immediate vicinity, and noticed a large column of smoke near his home. He responded to the dwelling to assure the occupants had evacuated and removed a number of domestic pets prior to the arrival of fire units.

Sheriff Fire Investigators look over the scene.
The crew from Rescue 3 was assigned to assist Rural, USFS, and CALFIRE units on the interior of the home. The fire had extended to the attic and the crawl space under the floor making control difficult as much of the floor had burned away. Crews eventually knocked down the fire and were able to make entry. Fortunately all occupants had made it out safety and were accounted for.
