Vehicle Accident Results in Widespread Power Outage

Lakeview-

On Friday, December 23, 2011, at 12:48 a.m., the Lakeside Fire District received calls reference a vehicle accident in the vicinity of Lakeview Rd and East Lakeview Rd. Reporting parties reported a loud crash with a power outage in the area. One structural engine, one rescue company, and an ALS Medic unit responded to the incident.

On the arrival of Rescue 3, firefighters discovered a vehicle that had completely knocked down one power pole, causing major damage to two adjoining poles. Power lines lay strewn across the roadway and front yards of homes in the affected area.Crews also discovered the involved vehicle was unoccupied.

CHP and Lakeside Fire units closed traffic on Lakeview Rd, West Lakview Rd, and East Lakeview Rd. It's likely this traffic control will remain in effect until repairs are completed.

SDG&E has no estimate on repairs. CHP is currently investigating the incident.
