Wildcat Canyon Area-

On Thursday, January 31st 2013 at 8:43 PM, the Lakeside Fire Protection District received a call reference a vehicle accident that was blocking all lanes on Wildcat Canyon Rd just north of Willow Rd. A standard response for vehicle accidents in this area was initiated which sent two structural engines, a rescue company, an ALS medic unit, and a duty chief.

CHP starts the investigation after the patients had been transported.

As Engine 2 and Medic 2 arrived ( River Park Fire Station) they located two heavily damaged vehicle some distance apart. Command of the incident was assumed by Captain Hisaw. A request was made to send an additional medic unit due to the distance and status of the two injured drivers. Medic 3 (Lake Jennings Fire Station) was sent to the incident.

Both injured parties were transported to the trauma unit at Sharp Memorial Hospital in Kearny Mesa. CHP is investigating the accident which resulted in an extended closure of Wildcat Canyon Rd. For those that got stuck in the traffic jam, thanks for your patience and understanding.
